Obama’s Joint Sessions Speech: Part One

September 10th, 2009

* Why is Obama so obsessed with everybody getting health insurance? Health insurance, by itself, is absolutely and totally useless. It’s like when you explain to somebody that money is worthless–you could have a barn full of it and it is just paper if you can’t get it out of the barn and exchange it for actual goods. Health insurance is just a way to help pay for something of value. It’s a way to pay for something that is far more expensive than it should be. Obama doesn’t want to reduce the cost of healthcare, he wants to help more people pay for the outrageous costs.

* He admits that Medicare and Medicaid are our deficit problem. Those two programs make up almost a quarter of our annual federal spending. According to Wikipedia, in 2009 they will cost us $632 billion. Keep that number in mind.

* He brags that “even drug companies” support healthcare reform. First off the drug companies are not to be trusted by any stretch of the imagination and maybe some day I will explain this for those who are not aware, and secondly it’s for this reason that we should all be seeing a big waving red flag when Obama brags about having their support. Anything the drug companies want should be opposed, in my opinion. They are not your friends, they just want your money. You are a consumer when it comes to healthcare, you should not be happy to see the people you must buy from are overjoyed with Obama’s plans. You should be looking to see how your fellow consumers feel about it, and it is quite obvious that the CONSUMERS (meaning people who actually currently pay for their healthcare) don’t seem very happy.

* He says that if you currently have private insurance, “nothing in the plan will require you to change the coverage you have.” Unless of course your company drops your coverage because it’s cheaper for them to pay the fine.

* Santa Claus goes on to say it will be against the law for insurance companies to deny coverage because of a pre-existing condition, there will be no “arbitrary” cap on what you can receive in a year, “or a lifetime,” and the government will limit the amount you can be charged out of pocket. I really don’t know how anybody can take this seriously.

* If you do not have insurance, “quality, affordable choices” will be made available to you via an “insurance exchange.”

* But if you can’t afford the “quality, affordable” option, the government is going to give you tax credits so you can pay for it.

* Here’s the first of two big ones: THERE WILL BE A REQUIREMENT THAT EVERYBODY ENROLLS IN HEALTH INSURANCE. He refers to young people who do not want to buy it as “irresponsible.”

* The second: BUSINESSES WILL BE REQUIRED TO OFFER INSURANCE TO THEIR EMPLOYEES.

* He claims it’s “a lie” that “the plan” will insure illegal immigrants. Oh, of course not–but our federal dollars will still be picking up the bill so does it really matter? In fact, why not require they purchase insurance as well? They get to continue to be what Obama refers to as “irresponsible,” while American college students will now be forced into buying in.

* The “defining moment” of the night occurred here, though its interpretation has been varied and only time will really tell.

YOU LIE!

Obama’s Diarrhea of the Mouth Continues

September 10th, 2009

He’s giving yet another speech as I type this. I had to turn it off after about five minutes, I am so tired of listening to this man speak. Forty five minutes last night was enough to last me a year apparently. He’s speaking to an audience of adoring nurses. You know, I think if I made it federal law that everybody should eat out, I’d be able to garner the praises of any number of restaurant owners, managers, or waitstaff–because it guarantees more money for them. I am not impressed by the fact that the medical community and drug companies supposedly like his ideas to make everybody in the country buy their products, and nobody else should be either.

Czars: Bush vs. Obama on Wikipedia

September 8th, 2009

Lots of talk about “czars” lately. Wikipedia’s page on the topic includes an “incomplete” list of presidential czars. It also has a chart that says that Bush had 35 czars, Obama 32. I have heard multiple references to Bush having far less, so I have found this page interesting. (The discussion page did little to eliminate the confusion.) Keep in mind we’re talking about Wikipedia here, which means it is an interesting and fairly comprehensive, but not completely trustworthy source.

Flawed and incomplete as this page is, it sill yields some interesting comparisons between our current President and his predecessor. According to Wikipedia:

* The most simultaneous czars that Bush had was in 2005 or 2006, when he had 23. He had 11 in his first year as President. Obama currently has 32 czars simultaneously.

* I counted 30 total “czar” positions for Bush, not 35 like they have in their chart. For some, the same position was filled by more than one person, but only once simultaneously.

* CZARS BUSH HAD THAT OBAMA DOES NOT: Abstinence, Bioethics, Bird Flu, Birth Control, Budget, Cleanup, Communications, Democracy, Domestic Policy, Food Safety, Global AIDS, Health IT, Health for WTC, Homeland Security, Homelessness, Gulf Coast Reconstruction, Manufacturing, Policy, Public Diplomacy, Reading, and War.

* CZARS OBAMA HAS THAT BUSH DID NOT: AfPak (Afghanistan and Pakistan), Auto, Auto Recovery, Borders, Climate, Compensation, Domestic Violence, Economic, Energy/Climate, Great Lakes, Green Jobs, Guantanamo Base Closure, Healthcare, Information, Iran, Middle East, Performance, Technology, Urban Affairs, Weapons, Weapons of Mass Distruction, and Weatherization.

* Of Bush’s total 30 czar positions, 12 were approved by the Senate. Of Obama’s 32 current czar position, 8 have been approved by the Senate.

We certainly seem preoccupied with the Middle East and disinterested in North Korea, don’t we?

Hey Obama, too many chefs spoil the soup.

Van Jones Resigns

September 5th, 2009

The Associated Press is reporting that President Obama’s “Green Jobs Czar” Van Jones has resigned. The story is getting updated quickly, but the earliest versions were saying the scandal was because he signed a petition demanding an investigation into whether or not high level officials allowed the September 11 terrorist attacks to occur and because he made “derogatory comments” about Republicans. LOL.

So far no mentions that he’s a Communist.

May the “Science Czar” be the next to go.

Glenn Beck Boycott

August 18th, 2009

There is a new website at defendglenn.com where you can find out which companies have supposedly pulled their ads from Glenn’s show due to an orchestrated effort from one or more liberal blogs. It also provides a list of loyal advertisers that can be contacted and thanked for their continuing support of Glenn’s show.

LET ME BE CLEAR[/OBAMA]…I do not have cable so I have actually NEVER watched Glenn Beck’s show outside of some YouTube videos. And yet I have written to two companies (SC Johnson and Proctor & Gamble) to ask about the boycott and I am already planning on ditching them for their competitors . And I think this week I will be going to eat at Red Lobster and picking up some items at Pep Boys just to give them a little “thank you” from my pocket book.

So you see, advertising on Glenn’s show is an advertisement even with people who don’t watch the show. And not advertising with Glenn due to the whinings from the left is as good as an advertisement for your competitor.

You can kick Glenn Beck, but you’re only kicking him upstairs.

Katie Couric thinks 54% of Americans are ignorant people with disturbing attitudes and emotions

August 15th, 2009

I’d say the percentage was 52.9% and call them “Obama voters,” but she’s talking about the 54% of likely voters who now oppose the health care bill Obama’s trying to cram through Congress despite it going over as well with the American people as a fart in church.

Also from Rasmussen: only 31% of likely voters strongly approve of Obama’s current performance, 39% now strongly disapprove; 48% at least somewhat approve, while 52% now disapprove.

Ben Shapiro

August 11th, 2009

Worth reading up on–author of Brainwashed: How Universities Indoctrinate America’s Youth, Porn Generation: How Social Lilberalism is Corrupting our Future, Project President: Bad Hair and Botox on the Road to the White House, and numerous columns I’ve not finished reading.

I caught part of an older interview with this man on For Faith and Family today and I thought he was astoundingly intelligent before I even read his extremely impressive bio.
